I know starting a new school year or navigating a different school can be a bit overwhelming, especially when it comes to making friends. But don’t worry, I’ve got your back! Believe it or not, I was in the same situation some time ago. In this blog, let’s talk about ten tips and practices that can make the process of making friends at school feel like a breeze.

    1. Offer help

Right now, I am trying to help YOU! Your opinion and thinking are very important to me. I have built a newsletter that is focused on expanding your and my knowledge, so please share your thoughts, suggestions, and stories with me. I would love to listen to you. Nonetheless, remember that being a good friend also means being supportive. If someone needs a hand with homework, study tips, or just someone to talk to, be there for them. It’s a fantastic way to strengthen your bonds.

    2. Be approachable

Think about the last time you talked to someone depressed and uninterested in life. I strongly assume that you didn’t like talking to that person. A smile can work wonders! When you’re at school, be open, and approachable, and don’t forget to flash those pearly whites. A friendly demeanor can go a long way in attracting potential friends.

    3. Be yourself

Being yourself is the way to go. People feel when you lie and pretend. These types of friendships break, leaving you with a broken heart. Keep in mind, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. It’s better to have one or two real friends than 100 fake ones. Embrace your quirks, interests, and unique qualities. People are drawn to authenticity.

    4. Attend school events

School events are goldmines for meeting people who share your interests. Whether it’s joining a club, a sports team, or any extracurricular activity, these events provide a fantastic chance to connect with like-minded folks.

    5. Start conversations

Starting conversations might feel a bit nerve-wracking, but it’s a must! With practice, it becomes easier. Begin with simple questions like, “What’s your favorite subject?” or “Any cool movies you’ve seen lately?” These easy icebreakers can lead to some fantastic chats. Remember to reflect on what has been said. Think what you could’ve said better. This practice makes you perfect your interactions.

    6. Listen actively

Remember, friendships are a two-way street. When someone’s talking to you, listen. Ask questions, show empathy, and be genuinely interested in what they’re saying. Trust me, this works like magic. Always try to listen more than speak.

    7. Collaborate on group projects

Group projects might seem like a chore, but they’re actually great opportunities to make friends. Working together towards a common goal helps you appreciate each other’s strengths and can lead to fantastic friendships. This approach didn’t work for me, but it is an excellent way to connect with people. You should find what works best for you!

    8. Join clubs and organizations

If you’re looking to meet people who share your interests, joining clubs or organizations is the way to go. It’s like finding your own little community within the school. This type of approach also works later in life. I’m in many communities and found like-minded people, which I doubt I would in my everyday life.

    9. Be inclusive

Don’t limit yourself to one specific group. Reach out to people from all walks of life and with different interests. You’ll be amazed at the diverse friendships you can build. Different people think differently. Listen to their thinking and expand your perspective and knowledge.

    10. Stay connected

Friendships require effort to maintain. Stay in touch through social media, texts, or even plan to hang out outside of school. Remember, a little effort goes a long way in keeping those friendships alive.

So there you have it, my friend! Making friends at school can be a fun and rewarding experience. Just be yourself, stay open to new connections, and remember that friendships take time to grow. You’ve got this!
